Stradivari

Post by saw » July 8th, 2008, 12:09 pm

each sexy curve
part of a woman...
the ribs, the head,
the back, the neck, the belly,
the tail piece.

the largest part,
the chest,
a hollow wooden box,
but no ordinary box,
this box held ancient secrets

that produced the sought for sound,
this body, clothed in only varnish
as vital as the seasoned strips
of wood, this queen, fondled
by a bow,

staccato, deteche, pizzicato,
not Italian deserts, strokes
that brought this woman to life.
Antonio was riveted
when Mr. Amati spoke,

his head followed with the wave
of his hand, and one day Antonio
used his teacher's breath
to blow life into his own creation,
a little more roundness,

a bit more tonal perfection
and soon everyone in the world
would know the Stradivari name,
but few were aware of another original
in the family,

Antonio's Uncle Guido,
the well known mason from Cremora.
Guido would carve out a niche
for himself, a special place in history.
Upon Guido's first gaze

at his nephew's astonishing work,
he is credited as saying, "Mamma Mia,
she's a-builta-like-a bricka-shithouse."
This would cement the Stradivari
one-two punch

in the halls of history for eternity.
His expression would remain popular
until the end of the 1700's, slipping
from favor and subsequent memory
until an Italian historian and writer

would resurrect Guido's words
250 years later as he was describing
a stunning new Italian starlet....
her name,
Sophia Loren.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

and guitars as well
what's not sexy about a stratocaster?
oops, sounds like stradivari

there are ones built on every body type
sleek and solid
spiky hair
big but beautiful
hollow or solid
wooden or electric
high strung or low-slung
sexy as a chainsaw
