it's well known that my contention is
that emoticons are a sign of weak writing

Wireman - "Evil emoticon empire" ...I need to learn not to be drinking any kind of beverage when I'm reading you guys - earlier this week I was reading one of Lightning's posts while drinking coffee & he uttered something that caused me to spray a mouthful of coffee all down the front of a fresh t-shirt and you, just now, with the "evil emoticon empire almost (I say almost 'cause the wall saved me) caused me to fall outta my chair backwards and when I grabbed the table for balance I hit my coffee cup spilling it all over my jeans...enough is enough - I think I need to make my visits here to studio 8 beverage - free...
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

emoticons used to be creative
people could do wonders with them when the were just text,
I don't know where these little yellow demons came from.

Cecil did you watch that video?
I did not give you enough information as to what interested me about it.

What interested me about that video is Cassady's expression when he tells Ginsburg "enjoy it" is he giving him one of these

'this is all hindsight"

We all know about the Christian platitudes, do you think there is such a thing as a Buddhist platitude?

Am I debating you?
Am I getting argumentitive?
Maybe but i hope not
I am just interested

I was thinking that HaroHalola's poem was pretty fresh, like the poet was trying for new forms, to express what is on the ground. Ginsberg come up with a lot of new forms too, but it seems like he lost touch. Who am I to judge.
Nobody more out of touch than me.

New forms
Formless also means wordless, just more words for what can't be said. Just more words.
I just don't know enough about Buddhism that's my problem

thanks for taking the time to reply

So who had a better understanding of who is running the counry. Who knows now? Seems like it is pretty obvious now, Ginsberg might even say so if he was still writing. Cassady seemed to have a better grip on it.
I suppose I am double minded about that video I think it relates to the christian military conspiracy theories you were all discussing on doreen's thread about the atheist soldier

Thank you all for taking to the time to reply
I enjoyed reading them
Sorry I don't really get the Buddhist metaphors.

Not to worry Clay no day job to keep, I am retired living off the social security taxes that yabyum is paying into the system. My writing is weak and getting weaker, so I will have to probably have to keep using emoticons now and then, except with wireman. I got to remember that. I don't want to harsh his mellow.

This is my don't get Buddhist metaphors voice

I miss that young woman K&D she had a million questions she would get on my nerves sometimes. But then she started asking questions about mysticism. And like the vain old fool I am I tried to answer them.

On the thread I mentioned about the Atheist Soldier, you talking about 2012, and restoring the constitution and chilling fears,

Does that all fall under the category of new bewildering forms.

Yeah I know there is more to this than words, more than forms, more than the formless.

Do we live in such a tidy universe?
I sometimes imagine Einstein was wrong, that "G*D does shoot craps with creation. Got dam god, how do people who don't believe in god pray?

That word prayer falls so easily from their lips. So what do you believe you are praying to? Just a nice little word that Hallmark greetings Card Company holds the copy rights to. I believe in god all right, I just don't know how to pray anymore, cause I have no construct for god to pray to.

I avoid the word prayer.

I wonder if Cassady was an atheist, a Buddhist, I have more respect for him, how do you judge a man's life

A turtle falling from the beak of a pelican flying overhead killed Solon the wisest man in the ancient world they say.

Before he died he said judge no man happy till he has died, cause you don't know what turn his fortune might take tomorrow.

Ginsberg had such a good death they say, surrounded by friends who loved him he passed on looking happy to go.

Neal died alone in Mexico along side the railroad tracks far from those who knew and loved him

I would not mind a death like that; in fact I would prefer it.
But that would be slefish I suppose it might be some comfort to my family if they saw me die. I don't know why. One woman friend of ginsberg brought her children with her the last time so they could witness his death.
She thought it would be healthy for them. But No matter how many peope would see me die, I still got to walk that valley by myself

Sorry Cecil I don't get
I try
lord knows I try
it just must be my way of zen
the way of not getting it zen.

Got to go moron this later
I love hijacking my own thread.

I don't know how I will feel tomorrow
I could get hit on the head by a falling turtle
I could be down on my knees making deals with God again.

Today would like to pray

I would like to say grace

I try to leave my mind blank (empty) with no personalities involved; Einstein said he believed in Spinoza's god. As if I had a snowball's chance of understanding either of them.

So every body is naming Einstein
Cause he said god does not play dice with the universe
Einstein has become the spokesman for intelligent design
For creationism.

So who is running the country?

still - there's a great youtube clip of ginsberg's final hours.
Friends chanting tibetan buddhist chants
orlovsky speaking to an interviewer
relatives coming and going
close-ups of ginsberg as he transitions
what a great send-off
it's a long clip, but it fills me everytime i think about it.
i'll see if i can find it

edit: hmmm, can't find it...i'll keep looking. Unless..., does anyone have that clip on file?

I have a recording of Patti Smith ,reading the poem that Ginsberg wrote about the funeral of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, at Allens' memorial. It features Phillip Glass On Piano. It's quite moving.
