The Bang, Yin 'n Yang

Post by mnaz » July 16th, 2008, 2:15 am

The universe blew out.
All the galaxies and broken rock
are hurtling out at terrible speed.
The intergalactic black blackens.
Clutch onto something, quick.

The universe is expanding.
What is it expanding into?
Will it keep on expanding?
Is it all finite or infinite?
Which is harder to grasp?

Did you know,
the critical density of the universe
is something like five hydrogen atoms per meter?
Anything less and it will blow out.
Anything more and it re-implodes.

universe expanding
like exhalation
cosmic breath prepares
for inhalation

If the universe blew out
before it was out it was in?
I wonder where the in was?
in a ying yang universe
every out must have its in?

You have probably seen this one:
atoms with consciousness;
matter with curiosity.

Stands at the sea,
wonders at wondering:

i loves to wonder at wondering

I remember reading that there is a certain average density--an actual number-- beyond which there would be "too much gravity" in the universe to allow expansion forever without eventual slowdown and reversal, and I remember thinking, "you're shitting me, right?"

It was something times ten to the -23 power g/cubic meter, as I recall...

I have to accept it on blind faith since I can't do the math
Gravity has been tugging relentlessly on all the mass of the universe ever ..... Compute the critical density in terms of hydrogen atoms per cubic meter. ...

Hard to keep up with the latest science mythology.
But I am sure it is not a myth
for those that can do the math

It would not surprise me if it were true.
Except it seems like the blind leading the blind
since so much of the universe is undetectable to us.

please pardon ramble

no idea...!

Anything less and it will blow out.
Anything more and it re-implodes.

From pi bonding to
To the density of ice
Everything just right for life
Intelligent design seams so reasonable

I've read that what's called,"Dark Matter", may give the universe enough mass to collapse back in on itself. If neutrinos are found to have mass that might factor in too.

Great poem my friend. Your mind is amazing. I love to read your fascinating thoughts.
