Is getting "lucky" the holdup?
Or dire imaginations of such?
If so, why? Please explain.
I should know this already,
but I'm hopelessly human.

No, wait!
It must have been that part about
pretending to care. Yeah I could see that.
That seems a 50-50 proposition at best.

all poems are autobiographical by their very nature, at least to some degree, but i think we all play people to fulfill our needs whether we realize it or not.

I agree dino, we all manipulate the world, no matter how chaste we
come to think of ourself...just by virtue of the fact that we open our mouth....our words are not random expressions despite how hard we try to be fair, giving, honest or ethical.....this poem, not only on this site, has sparked some lively discussion, which says loads about
the creative content.....from the responses alone, we can see the
variety of places we are coming from...and with that what words we choose to express our thoughts.....a very thought provoking poem,
perhaps masked for some as merely a poem about a guy's
despicable attitude toward women.....it's so easy to forget that poems
are often metaphorical.....this poem, I feel, reminds me of that...
to look deeper....a good practice in life......peace
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

it's felix the cat. an old cartoon character that had this black bag of tricks that he could turn into just about anything. i thought you were calling me a mickey mouse dino which kind of threw me; it may be true, but i thought how does she know?

cool!! i thought his bag was black, but actually it's some sort of morphing check pattern. that's one crazy cat! there are stylistic similarities between mickey and felix - that cannot be denied - but they are of different temperaments as i'm sure you will agree. splendid rendition doreen.

I've got more in this bag of tricks, too, but I'm not sure what's in there yet. After all, it's your bag. :D
