Questions for Mother

Post by saw » August 3rd, 2008, 9:57 am

Am I just an earth puppet
sans the strings,
a marionette with molecules?

Do you lift and lower slats
of celestial balsa wood
just the same, pull up
my moods and drop them?

Are you watching me write
this poem from the comfort
of your astral star-room,
gazing into a glowing orb
like a movie on demand?

Did you see my daughter poke
from her mama's canal, did you
gently pull her along?

Did you think she was cute
as a button as the little gray mouse
in the Nutcracker, did it warm
your heart, make you smile
like I did?

Did you release extra endorphins
into the atmosphere to ease
my wife's cancerous pain as she lost
her fight in that hospital bed
we set up in the living room?

Are you two together tonight,
each of you watching the same show
or do you still argue a lot over the
programming, the direction, have you
reconciled your differences, do you
take turns, do you play nice,
are you civil?

Do you look away
when I masturbate?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

painful lines, at least heard from here...!

it´s also a very primal catholic thing to imagine/believe that someone is always behind, beside, upside you watching you... are you catholic?. My mother was very literal: "I will take care of you but I will be busy doing other things.. ".

thanks!!

not your everyday, common poem, here, steve. that took some soul searching that not many would indulge in, i do believe. you did it well and thank you for your honest writing. emotional with a surprise ending that is so innocent that i must stop...

such questions
the questions that ask and ask again
until one doesn't question the continual questioning

thanks, st, Arcadia, mtmynd, LRod, and judih fro your thoughful comments...to answer your question Arcadia, I am a recovering Catholic....they lost me in the 3rd grade at St. Dominics when they stopped answering my questions.....told me I asked way too many...
needed to stop it, get on board with the blind faith they were selling...

Saw - a battleship of a *Sparkle on the Monkey Train* armed to the nines and all guns blazing to you - this one stopped me in my tracks, even the wind around me stood still...Righteous!
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
