Disaster #'s

Post by Artguy » January 8th, 2005, 11:46 am

Is our only interest in disaster the sheer #'s of it's impact....The sunami is no doubt a disaster of huge proportions, but almost as disasterous is how the "latest" disaster can take our attention away from all sorts of human suffering...just because the #'s don't quite compare...eg.....AIDS in Africa....thousands die every day......The human toll in Iraq....seems to have been shoved to the back pages....massive human persecution in Tibet....don't get me started on that one.....Human suffering is human suffering...no matter what the #'s.....Also what attention do we give to the suffering of other sentient beings on this little blue planet.....and what of the suffering that we cause upon mother earth itself.............?

For a mad Christian Inverto-Wigout version of this ( Para-logo's) scenario
( above), watch George Pal's born-again version of the world in this movie ( "When Worlds Collide") which transmogrified my childhood in the Fifties:

The maudlin-nuttoso tone of the prose on this web site should convince you once and for all that George Pal was truly:

" . . .a pebble in the waters of Time . . ."

But his films are great fun, nonetheless . . .

p.s. (private message for Perezoso):

It seems we are, once again, in need of a "Massive Intervention Scope" such as can be found , still crated, in Sarge's war room . . .
