I wanted to scroll through archive at litkicks
but the wind has erased the place

I am working my but off
easy wind
taking my time
doctah say I live five years
if I take my time
punching these keys
and drinking my coffee
monday morning bird calls
summer time the living is easy
and I got two more avacados
I just want to dance
little bitty pretty one
and frankie lymon and the teanagers
as I doter and doddle
teeter and totter
toward what some young writer once called the forlorn rags of old age.

why did you have to get so old so fast jack
man I am twenty years older than you now
and I leave no beautiful books
to marry and have lots of short stories

turning pages
jaming perpeutal
turns eighty nine

I watch the cedar waxwings hovering
eating spiders off the wall
the spiders get as small as they can
and grab tight on to the center of their nest
sometimes this helps...
sometimes I yell at the spiders
GET OUT OF THERE! FIND A CRACK OR CREVICE
AND GET IN IT!! but they can't understand and
end up in a bird's belly...ya just can't screw with
the wave - ya can't unbuild the theater - you can
sing for the spiders
you can sing for the birds
you can cry for the sky
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

powerless powderless

beatless and mindless

bouyant in all dimensions

it is all so beautiful

in the belly of the catepillar

give me a beat boys to free my soul

I am an arachnophiliac

I have felt her bite

And it was so sweet and painless

I talk to animals too

I know the exact location of every greasy spot I have left in the road.

Down on themes street

Just around the corner from the Seaman's Hall

in old baltimore

was a bar called the Dead End Saloon

right there on a wharf

Good Girl Band playing that night

a song about making love to a black widow spider

I wonder if they were as good as I remember them

Everybody got to be somewhere
me here
you there
wireman there

it is all so beautiufl
ain't it
dog eat dog
bird eat spider
man eat bird

seems like I have had this text box open for hours, as it scrolls away the words slip out of sight
time to submit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

thames st
in all it's
cookingness
dead end still
there @ the end
of broadway
seaman's hall
a memory
luckily i saw it
the way it was
in the late 70's
used to tell the
adams morgan refugees
go there where the houses
are going for a song
and the old sailor's
bask on the charmed
streets all the live long day
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

Seaman's hall the way I saw it in the forties
with the eyes of a child
jimmy buffett got nothing on me
i have wanted to sail on mother ocean since I was three feet tall

Fleet street where the tracks are running up to Fells Point from Eastern Avenue

Cobble stone
street with embedded tracks
jitterbug and homeboy would jump the slow moving freiights and ride them up to see the movies at the broadwa theatre
on saturday afternoons
trying to remember I I hopped to too
I was so scared.

I think so
and fell on my ass when I tried to get off
I forgot to hit the ground runnig

Charm City was nitty gritty in those days
My gone world
First piece of poetry that I read and enjoyed after high school was Ferlinghetti
My hero
the real deal
a sea man in world war two
he was in Japan a week after the bomb
walked the streets of Nagasaki
saw the shadows on the wall
became a Pacifist that day

Baltimore in the forties during the war better have your blinds close, air raid warden's on every block
black out curtains on every window

Gas street lamps out
Baltimore

I won't be back
but I will always walk the streets of a happy, spooky much loved childhood.

spooky children
always wondering
wandering
sleeping with the wind
looking for bread,
peanut butter,
jelly

born out of a jam jar
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
