Ten four
I got so many opinions I need another a$$ hole just to express them all.
Responsibility
I want to take responsibility for my opinions
My actions, my words, everything.
I been a parrot all my life Mark.
I at least want to be aware of that.
Best advice I ever got was from Old Kurt Vonnegut, not personally but in one of his books.
"Listen to the music"
Going to listen to what old mnaz is playing on his stereo now.
I think I am done with this thread.
love peace and taco grease.

August seems to be a good month for wars to start.
World War 1 and 2 started in august
President John McCain
I am getting used to it
Putin's timing is perfect for him.
This is better than Rove saying a terrorist attack would help McCain.
I read George Wills column this morning
Pretty good
McCain said when he looked in Putin's eyes he saw three things
K
G
B
It is too late now
And your analogy to Kuwait don't hold up
because Kuwait did not invade Iraq
Georgia screwed up
they prodded the bear.
I am sick of Europe
and their problems
Even the middle east is a European problem
A legacy of the fall of the Ottoman empire
See I got so many opinions
So many opinions
Speaking of punching clocks
when you going to get work
Where is the Poet's eyes
I can tell you been having fun
so much fun
time to punch in

You need a fact check here, truck
it's a perfect analogy
Georgia didn't attack Russia. How stoopid would that be?
The Russians are just doing what they do best, propaganda and chess.
This whole thing is a very well-planned gambit. Putin is on his own clock.
I admire George Will. He's a very fine writer.
Discounting the fact that I disagree with about 80% of what he says, I admire the way he says it. He usually has his facts straight.
I feel much the same about Pat Buchanan. Like I felt about W. S. Buckley.
You don't have to always agree with someone's point of view to be able to appreciate and learn from their writing.

Got dam cookies got me locked out.
Sorry about the user name
They did attack Clay, they took the bait and got their ass whipped.
No I don't need a fact check. And the analogy to Kuwait is very weak.
They did not attack russia, but they attacked the break away province of theirs where russia had peace keepers.
Just played right into the game plan of Putin's

yer such a jew, jack
don't get all talmudic on me here
as long as we're splitting hairs
from Saddam's point of view, Kuwait was a break-away province of Iraq
so, perhaps this isn't a perfect analogy, but it's close
it's of no matter now. But this reminds me of the Balkan situation in 1914.
The dominoes are set up. All we need is a good sneeze to make them fall.

The situation is so different from the balkans, but i can see why you say that, there is a superficial resemblence.
same with kuwait/iraq
superficial resemblance
such a long trip to try to explain it.
i guess i am not that interested
after all
kuwait iraq syria lebanon egypt the whole middle east was part of the ottoman empire, france and england carved it up afte the ww one cause to victors go the spoils. iraq did not exist as as a country till the british drew some lines on a map. georgia was a country long before the ussr
there was no one in kuwait who wanted to be part of iraq as there is in the province of georgia that wants to align itself with russia.
and russia is not iraq, iraq did not have 14,000 nuclear missles and an army of a million men or TU-60 bombers, or missle launching submarines. so on and so forth
and Iraq did not have a seat on the security council to veto any action.

antialergics?
well... in fact I´m against them, lemon juice, honey & time the best things for me! At the moment I have a cold and a persistent pain in my right ear... I´ve wondering a lot this year about my right side!!
no idea about Georgia. I only have a infancia´s friend who is living in Moscu at this moment with her kids & husband (they were here last week & we were talking a lot, specially about education & consumerism fever in that lands -she´s a teacher too-). It was funny how her kids pronounced already the rrrrr!!!!!!!!, they gave me quick lessons of russian (I guess I dissapointed the older one with a no about a chess partido possibility) and promised to be my russian-teachers when they returned to Rosario in two years!!!!!. And I also had some clues about the ex URSS baltic nations near 1989. I imagine they are happy now being part of the European Union!.
But I have a Georgian voices cd by the Rustavi choir compiled in Tbilisi!!!!!!!!!!!
very impresionante!!!!!!!! I was re-listening it yesterday!
Here are talking about Russia´s intent to rise petroleo prices or about some cryptic camperos comments about teros making noise in some place and putting their eggs in some other place. No idea. Post communism, separatism, globalization, capitalism & fight for petroleo, maybe.
I only hope civil people stop suffering because war and greed.

Only if the world buys into some exhumed version of the obsolete, grim, bipolar hype of the old Cold War paradigm, and all of the unconscious, brain-blocked thinking and needless drain that went along with that mindset for decades. This could set off "WW3" mainly if the megadefense contractors and the Grand Oil Party are successful in convincing us that they should be allowed to finish sucking the life and whatever "economy" is left outta this place.Lightning Rod wrote:the world is about to freak out
nobody seems to realize that this event could easily set off WWIII
Bush and his fellow planet rapers don't give a good god damn about fledgling democracies. That is only for the incendiary rhetoric. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, George Sr. said, "This Will Not Stand"...
Georgia is a country that exactly fits the model that Bush purportedly supports. It is a fledgling democracy.
Georgia wanted to join NATO. The country represents everything that we are preaching in the Bush democratic evangelism doctrine.
First of all, NATO is way too aggressive with its placement of "missile defense bases" around Russia (ok, that isn't on the same level as Cuba and Khrushchev, 1962, but can definitely be seen as Western aggression). And Georgia is not a huge strategic ally-- more like an obligatory one, since they threw in a few troops with Bu$hko's Imperial Circus of Naked Agression in Iraq. And Georgia invaded S. Ossetia prior to the Russian incursion too. And if the "The West" is allowed to invade countries at will based on lies, then why should any other world power "play by the rules" in protecting their so-called interests? I'm not defending Russia, but these things don't happen in a vaccuum, and I would hope that "the world" (the entity required to launch a world war) comes to see through these tiresome dick-waving dramas.
Only if we bought into The Complex to begin with... The hype. The lies. The fear-based planetary pillage and control. If we don't open a can of whupass on the Russians, we are not only cowards but also hypocrites.
The McCain camp loves all this militarized world strife of course. It's the only way the Grand Oil Party could possibly win this election-- the threat of war. After all, they're the only ones who can protect us, right? Maybe Bush got on the phone to Putin, green-lighted the whole thing.
Or not.
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. At least on this fine August morning. Sorry for taking a couple weeks to get to this, but I had to ponder it a bit.
The global economy, or what's left of it, is more likely to take us down than world war. World war has just gotten too expensive. Just sayin'..But mark my words. We are all in trouble.

Indeed. Now that we've vowed to spread freedom and democracy at the point of a gun and a few smart bombs, let's invade the world and let our own highway bridges collapse. Halliburton don't come cheap. And yes, for the record, we are often hypocrital in this toxic, surrealistic, postmodern geo-political stew. Did Reagan declare "this will not stand" when Saddam invaded Iran? No. He told the State Dept. to remove Iraq's name from the list of "terror-sponsoring nations" and then sent Rummy over to shake the bastard's hand. It's all about the strategic interests, man...
Ok ok, so there's some unprofessional frustration and runaway cynicism in my two cents worth. So run it through a filter or something. Patriotism ain't all it's cracked up to be anyway..

nazz,
As I was opening your post I turned to look at the television. There was Putin spinning the cylinder on his revolver. Russian roulette.
He was saying that the US was responsible for the conflict in Georgia. I think this is a gambit, a power play.
The US just decided to put missiles in Poland. They are fighting over who will or will not be in NATO.
Call me an alarmist, but I'm pretty good at spotting trouble before it arrives. This looks like trouble to me.
