Heroes--The Brahma of San Antonio

Post by Lightning Rod » September 19th, 2008, 2:26 pm

(my hero and mentor and guru and spiritual counsellor has had a heart attack. I broadcast his name here. It is Joey 'Badmouth' Lemming. Also known as The Brahma of San Antonio. It must have been a good one, hospital for the past eight days, but HE LIVES!)

hell is when your hero has a heart attack
and you feel like a lower case letter in the rack
the foundation shakes and the timbers shiver
you take your pulse and you squeeze your liver

we think our heroes are immortal, we want them to be
just being human is heroic, part of hero is vulnerability
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

you still my most human of heroes Clay
take care of yourself
that's a joke
cause I know you going to keep on keeping on
if you quit now it might kill you

This is gold Lrod. You make me want to wander and reconsider. Yours is the poetry that inspires poetry:

Story, Glory, Allegory.

See?

I talked to The Brahma of San Antonio today on the phone
He is bloodied but unbowed.

Joey is one of the finest poet's I've ever known. Hopefully I can coax him into sharing some of his work with us during his recovery.
