Repeat After Me

Post by Lightning Rod » September 20th, 2008, 1:07 pm

Fear is the seed of courage
I tell myself that over and over
when I shake under my covers
my imagination is a dark and stormy night
every cliche is a replay of my panic story
what if this happened? or this? or this?
I look for opium, alcohol, cannabis
but courage is the only remedy bereft
stare into the right eye and gaze into the left
it's not death I fear, but boredom and suffering
and the stuff that's ringing in my future memory,
decay, futility
repeat after me:
Fear is the seed of Courage
Fear is the seed of Courage
Fear is the seed of Courage
Fear is the seed of Courage
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Nice, LR. "future memory" (courage to face it) Interesting thought.

Or, courage is the black-out drunk-en eraser of fear..

Hmm... courage as debauchery. That sounds fairly heretical!

Fear of error which everything recalls to me at every moment of the flight of my ideas, this mania for control, makes men prefer reason's imagination to the imagination of the senses. And yet it is always the imagination alone which is at work.

we grow from our opportunities to face difficult situations and survive..

Me thinks fear can be encouraged or taught. Fearlessness is a genetic flaw or gift depending on your social situation!
