Preacher Palin

Post by mtmynd » September 3rd, 2008, 10:52 am

If anyone is interested in Sarah Palin, this is a recent video of her speaking at her church...

Be sure to read the related article... interesting facts about the preacher and what he preaches.

Hmmm,,, I wonder about that cutting off stuff. In the article where this vid was there was a link to the sermons by the church's preacher... it was inaccessible. Maybe too much traffic or maybe cut off by nefarious forces..? I haven't a clue... only theories at this point.

But I'm glad this video is readily available from youtube.

I donno. The video on the huffington site started with a long intro by the pastor (I guess it was the pastor)... and I listened and watched that and then as soon as he introduced her, it cut off. I thought maybe I was supposed to push go again and it would go to a second video or something but when I pushed start again it just started all over with the intro. Maybe it was my connection? Who knows. Interesting that the link to the sermons didn't work also.

And yeah I found some other stuff on youtube also... apparently the church has a missionary school and they've made a movie which will be released this month. I watched the creepy trailer for it ... I say it's creepy because the verbiage was about how Alaska was going to be part of God's plan for the future of the world and the images were sorta sci-fi or ... well.... creepy. :)

I think I read they're Pentecostal people. I have a difficult time understanding their religious views... might be that talkin' in tongues thing. I wonder if they understand each other when they start that? I've seen some video on those folks... I don't believe anyone listens to those that start talkin' in tongues probably because they don't understand each other. Privately held conversations spoken out loud to something between their ears, I reckon. That's only something one can do in a church and not have the neighbors calling for help.

Yes, Pentecostal... specifically Assemblies of God.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assemblies_of_God

The talking in tongues thing has always been strange to me. I knew a lady who used to babysit my son when he was about 2 who had these prayer meetings in her house and she'd do that. It sounded like she was crazy, honestly.... I didn't keep him under her care very long once I heard the gibberish.

Not sure what the agenda is for the Assemblies of God but the wikipedia link should shed some light. I haven't read it all yet. Just found the link to share.

no much idea about pentecostal religions... only some idea about Testigos de Jehová (I always have two or three kids per year with families involved in that religion). Last week in a middle of a class where a kid was talking about Hércules, other said suddenly "my grandmother says that Zeus is a false god"... :)

I know Harold Bloom wrote a book about USA churchs, maybe it´s interesting for you!!

from doreen´s links:

To be an agency of God for evangelizing the world. (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19,20, Mark 16:15,16)
To be a corporate body in which man may worship God (1 Corinthians 12:13)
To be a channel of God's purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son. (Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Corinthians 12:28, 1 Corinthians 14:12)

well... you have to live that that!!
