Seven

Post by Barry » September 24th, 2008, 12:05 pm

Seven

Seven rings around the world
Seven songs of seven girls
Seven wives for seven sons
Seven lives devolve to one

One for luck and one for love
One below and one above
One to sow and one to reap
None shall know the one who sleeps

Seven shadows of seven shades
Seven blooms fill seven glades
Seven stars or seven suns
Seven worlds enthralled by one

One of fire and one of ice
One for hire and one for vice
One for food and one for slaves
One to punish so all behave

Seven priests for seven kings
Seven monks on seven strings
Seven masters of seven knights
Seven saviors for all who might

Peace,
Barry
PS: written somewhere between 4/3/92 and 5/4/92, this is a mnemonic; it encapsulates an entire story, maybe several, like seven

I'm pondering, Barry. One world, one love, seven days of the week. The 2-2-2-1 thing here got me to thinking..

An intriguing poem Barry. You have a talent for writing poems which make one think. Very well done.

Oh, it get's weirder, Nazz.:)
4+3=7; 9-2=7---77
5+4=9; 9+2=11---911
or...
5-4=1; 9+2=11---111
seven and eleven--favorite numbers of the one?
Weird coincidence? I did not design this into the piece. It just happened.

Thanks, John. I've long enjoyed your work, too.

Peace,
Barry

Sounds like a song! I like it!

I don't get all the "weirder" arithmetic references in your comment but hey, it's OK... as long as you do, it's all good. :D

Write one about 8? (that's my fave number ... ;))
