Chivalry

Post by Lightning Rod » September 24th, 2008, 5:59 pm

the White Knight rode in
or was it the Green Knight,
or the Black? No matter.

He had chivalry in his heart
and coins in his pouch
music in his lute
armor glistened on his back

He fancied himself a savior
but really was a predator
of damsels in distress

He was a knight of the
What Goes Around Comes Around Table
the contract was a handkerchief
plucked from the field by a lance

Eleanor of Aquitaine invented romance
deeds rash and heroic underlined
by promises not requited
impossible promises
the stuff of love lost to foreplay

Was it the White Knight
Or the Green Knight
Or the Black Knight?
No matter.

distraught maidens need tender loving care
I have heard someone say diamonds are a girl's best friend
I suppose coins are good too

Eleanor of Aquaitaine? I could google that, but I have heard it said (Love and The Goddess, Joe Campbell) that the age of modern romance was born with the French troubadors of the 12th century.

Distraught women need love too, maybe not husbands, but a little tender loving care for a while:
Until the windmill knocks you on your ass again.

Made sense to me Clay but I am stoned again.
pardon the ramble
please
