Give me eyes

Post by joel » October 30th, 2007, 10:39 pm

If prayers were cast as magic spells, then I
might beg all nature’s author:
Give me eyes—
oh, give me eyes exceedingly divine
and fervently articulate in strength
to pioneer new constellations light
and long away, complex and intricate—
and give me eyes to endless ponder you –
a perforated cutout on the blue
shamayim openness, a delicate
approximation portrait – that I might
attempt to meditate on you for length
as long as stars delight to burn— and line
my magic eyes with openness, surprise
me— and awakened watchfulness apply.
