Banquet In Solitaire

I can't do anything right
I can't write and I can't play
nobody believes what I say
I'm a miserable failure at everything
what's left?

Excuse me
I'm feeling sorry for myself

women love me at first
but when they really get to know me
my sense of humor wears thin
and they chafe at buying my cigarettes

you don't want to invite anybody
to your pity party. No, it's a banquet in solitaire
a prom without dancing, no orchestra
a slim occasion better done
without invitations

I would invite you to my pity party
but I want to eat all the cake
drink the whole bar out
and waltz with myself until dawn

but I can't do anything right.
