On the Subject of Exercise

Post by Lightning Rod » November 28th, 2004, 3:49 pm

I've made an art form of the sedentary lifestyle.

My rules:

1. Never stand when you can sit.
2. Never sit when you can lie.

If I can pay a boy with paper to mow the lawn
I watch from a lounge and get my money's worth.

Leisure and repose are my goals.
A nap is rapture.

That's why I preferred heroin to cocaine,
it didn't enhance my ambition.

about my laziness, I have no contrition
It's a lifestyle very few can afford.

I have the opposite view.

I miss the dance studio like crazy.

I miss going to the gym every day.

If I sit around in one spot for too long, I go a little wack.

The sedentary lifestyle which includes working and playing long hours on the computer is something I need to change.... rather quickly.

For starters, I think I'll get up and go take a walk....

:D

I was raised with that good old Puritan work ethic, where constant activity activity is the norm ... if I am not DOING something I feel terribly guilty, sick, neurotic. Still ... all those bad feelings don't seem to stop me from wasting lots of time, all the time.

there are those yogis who sit and invisibly exercise every muscle (inner and outer).

As for me, being on a lower plane of existence, i need to convince my blood to circulate as early in the day as possible. (don't want no arguments, blood)

still, miles walked are miles saved. This body loves to hit the dirt road and let nature work her magic.

All the better to come back home and reflect.

a sedentary lifestyle makes me COMPLETELY whack! i swear, i have broken my body with stillness. i swear.

NOTHING, not drugs, not sex, not candy, not drink, not motionless meditation, NOTHING makes me feel better all over, in every way, like a jog thru the park, along the ocean's shore.

salty fresh air in my pinkening lungs, sanguine cheeks, legs thrusting, allowing the terrain to have it's way with me... sigh... there is no release more satisfying. i benefit mentally, emotionally, my head is clear, my lungs are scoured, my ass is hard, and i am made strong anew. :P

i fucking love the park. gimme a great park and i'll give you good health in every meaning of the word.

here's the thing

I can get more aerobic exercise by sitting in the lotus position thinking than most people can get by running five miles.
