That book kept me going the summer of 1962.
I lived it
threw myself in to it
it was the summer I learned
to give pounds and crowns and pennies
but not my heart
I was one and twenty when I read it
but it was too late.
By day I was a ditch digger
into the mindless manual work like Sisyphus on zen.
by night I was a Russian Nobleman
I think I saw the movie
Geraldine Chaplin?, Charlie's litttle girl
What a dish
Julie Christie too?
