spank the d'evil

Post by mtmynd » June 3rd, 2008, 1:33 pm

spank the d'evil

write me words
in flows of glaciers
freeze drying thoughts
stopped in perennial pause
scratching at barriers
that built themselves
around a barren mind
stark with emotions

cold looks staring
ceaselessly into nowhere
as if blinded by light
that penetrated the soul
leaving all else on doorsteps
orphaned by existence
bundled in blank-ettes
that have unraveled their spell
and set free any truths
to sail among the rocks
chilled by mourning fog

spank the d'evil!

the foolishness of fear
upsetting rationality
and setting the course
towards that of oblivion

the torch carried high
olympic style across
the nomad hiways alone
with bums & drifters
set free from themselves
to wander with rhyme,
cheap bottles of wine
and their remaining time
left doing nothing
but crying in remorse
over memories long passed
leaving their hearts
in wakes of emptiness,

tears running in torrents
of self pity disguised
by words of sorrow begging
for spare change in life
to continue the misery
first hand alone... lonely

thumbs crossed: booshit

I really dig this! Dig the word play...it's clever like a survivor is clever.

(note: i wrote this humbling comment for "spank the d'evil" [with minor introductory changes] on another site and thought it would be fun [not to mention interesting] for the readers at S8 to read ;))

thank you, Arcadia, for this opportunity to place this excellent poem back up to the top, even for a brief period of time. the more people read it's powerful words, the more exposure "spank the d'evil" has, the more others will want to read this poem... spreading the words, word by word. words such as these do not come easily to the writer, nor do the words settle easily within the reader, but the words collective message is vitally important for anyone that has the wherewithal to absorb these words, digest their meaning and revel in the message of apathy being a human condition that can be easily surmounted if one has the desire to retune their way of thinking and ascend to a higher level of consciousness. doing so would improve the overall self-pitying sorrow and grief that is the devolution of our global condition. yes, if we all were to "spank that d'evil" within us, we would take control of our own lives and quit our unhealthy reliance on others to lead our lives for us.

[btw: the word, "spank" is is translated as 'zurrar' , 'dar una zurra'... does that help?]

  ... de nada, Cecil!!

zurrar: "pegar" and if it´s in the face"cachetear", "abofetear"... in english I would use with my minimun lexicon for that: to hit, to beat... (but I don´t know if they mean the same exactly).
