night never fails the wistful

Post by mtmynd » July 24th, 2008, 4:10 pm

the romance of words
falls into the space
that engages the heart-
strings pulled taut
then released with ease.

the shattering of silence
night stills even joy
on those nights when joy
seems suspended in the ether
blown free from the balance
of a spinning world adrift.

in the darkened skies
but never alone, you say,
as the breath of this night
warms even the chill of winter,
partaking possibilities
of endless romance singing
in tones of the planets
befriending loneliness.

o the night is holy
as we weep upon stars,
so distant from our
senses strung to feel
the pulsations of life
trumping our hearts...

the power of night
cooling the ravaged body
of earth from a sun more
powerful than ourselves.

cooling the brow,
steaming the senses
alert to a vibration
of the mother moon,
the silvered treasure
that holds our dreams
comforts our mind
wandering freely across
this night sky in it’s
temporal touch upon
flattered hearts set free

(night never fails the wistful)

"and you come to me on a summer breeze
keep me warm in your love
and then softly leave"

- how deep is your love, the beegees -
[or more recently, by the bird and the bee, my favorite version]

cecil, your first verse made me think of this. the "then released with ease" 8)

and light never fails the wistful..
especially that high desert light.
even when the sun bled and died,
the moon sneaked up on me.
light became more silky.
so did wistful.
