thanks doreen!!!!! I found the profile
! but it seems my images are heavier than the allowed. How can I transform the number of pixels in them?

yeah Arcadia, I had that problem too. On my scanner I had to shrink the image size way down and reduce the resolution, so much that some of the telephone poles along that desert road actually disappeared! The site software does seem a bit touchy on the avatar business, unless there's a trick that I'm missing or something...

You'll need some photo-editing software to resize the images for your avatars.
I just did a search for "free photo editing software" and came up with these choices.
http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php
http://picasa.google.com/
I'm sure there are dozens more but these 2 looked fine to me.
After you download the software, launch it and select "resize image" from your menu. (depends on the software where that is located in the menus)
Then resize it to 72dpi (dots per inch) and no greater than 110 pixels per inch wide or tall.
If you want me to do it for you, just email me all the images you want to make avatars from and I'll create them for you and send them back to you by email so you can change them whenever you want.
Can't hurt to learn to do it yourself tho... it's pretty easy to do if you have photo editing software.
But I don't mind helping if you'd rather I do it for you.

Also, here's a few more links I found where you don't need to download software to your computer, apparently... you can edit the images right online. (I imagine you upload your image then use their online tools.... then save it to a gallery or something... but you can always save an image to your own computer by right-clicking the image and selecting to save the image to your desktop).
Anyway, here are the online resources I just found for editing images online
http://www.splashup.com/

I read a very good review about photoshop express. (then again the review was written by adobe who created it... LOL!)
