Ask Me If I Care

Post by Lightning Rod » June 3rd, 2009, 3:44 pm

Lightning Rod is putting the world on notice
he doesn't care anymore
all his emails will have [no subject] in the title line

Henceforth I will have no causes, influences nor attachments
No affections, no reflections, no excuses, no demands
Ask me if I care.

Poverty taught me freedom
I think everyone should try it
it's a useful house to occupy
but you wouldn't want to buy it

Let the world beware
Lightning Rod doesn't care
all my poems will be signed Anonymous
Ask me if I care.
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

You may sign all your work
"Anonymous" from now on,
etch it in the corner of your verses,
stanzas, lines.
Yet the flavoring of your poetry
true, rich, deep-
undeniably and distinctly yours,
Clay.

I liked this one a lot Clay
Kept meaning to get back to it

The reason it comes to mind today is a poem

I read today
Hard Is the Way of the World III

Don't wash your ears on hearing something you dislike
Nor die of hunger like famous hermits on the Pike!
Living without a fame among the motley crowd, [...]

300 Tang Poems
Also reminds me of a hillbilly song

"don't tell nobody my life story
and I won't tell nobody that you care"

just random associations
pardon the ramble.
thanks for the poem

"Poverty taught me freedom"

You got that right. 4 words, such a powerfully true statement.
A hard lesson, but it changes you forever.
Wish more folks would learn it....

Poverty taught me how to earn money so I wouldn't be in poverty any move. Poverty taught me to work. Work and income taught me freedom.

well at least when you work, you have money and when you have money you can buy your own food and clothing and house yourself without having to depend on anybody else.

doesn't sound like a concentration camp to me.

sounds like independence!!!!

YAY!

I can take care of myself! by working! i LOVE that FREEDOM!

well....anyway,

materialism, is not , is not why people write poetry.

and if that is why they do, then they missed out on the essential,

which i would call, libertarian, and or revolution.

you can add any word on that word you want, revolution of the will,

or will to art, or love is the law, or freedom is a double edged sword,

and so on.

so if you want to boast about how much money you make , fine.

but when you boast about not getting published, ect. ect. so fine.

(and on that note, i kinda lost interest in the ongoing spat, between
Lightning Rod and Miss Work about several eons ago.But i begin to see
better now, where Lightning Rod is coming from, peace out.

OMG...... WTF are you talking about? I was talking about the content of the poem, rabbit, and only replied to this in response to hester prynne's post which quoted a particular line ...you're trippin' brotha!
and on that note, i kinda lost interest in the ongoing spat, between
Lightning Rod and Miss Work about several eons ago.But i begin to see
better now, where Lightning Rod is coming from, peace out.
Miss Work? And who exactly would that be? And where is Lightning Rod coming from? I thought he was coming from Texas. I'm coming from Virginia.

And where are you coming from, sir?
so if you want to boast about how much money you make , fine.
You really think that when I state "poverty taught me to work" that I'm boasting about how much money I make? You're kidding, right?

I only make enough to take care of myself.

I am not wealthy and never will be wealthy. I live on the edge of survival every day. I work to survive. I don't make very much money.

I don't boast about anything. I have absolutely fricking nothing to boast about. Plus, I very much *hate* boasting. Boasting is one thing I know I won't do.
but when you boast about not getting published, ect. ect. so fine.
I've self published 3 books of my personal work and also published the "Infinite Tide" anthology for the Studio Eight writers and artists via Cafe Press.

You should get yourself a copy! You'd love it!

http://studioeight.tv/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=11260

I'm NOT boasting, though, 'cause as I said I don't boast. I don't like boasting. I think boasting is weak and unattractive.

But I AM praising the following artists and writers for their contributions!!! It's a great book!

The care and feeding of poets

They do have their foibles too

Their vanities and inanities

Some of them are even republicans.

Poverty and anonymity go together like a horse and carriage.

Brother can you spare a dime?

Had to come back and read this again 'cause I'm still sorta shakin' in my boots ... a little shocked, I think. Wondering what's wrong with expressing myself and wondering how in the heck what I posted got connected with spats. I wasn't trying to have a spat!

Maybe I'll write a poem about it.
