The Mighty Doris...

After a terrible few weeks, we finally had to have our lovely cat Doris put to sleep. Her kidneys were failing and her back legs going.

She lasted 22 years bless her and was a most amazing friend. Part of my healing has of course been creativity.

I'd like to share some of those creations with you, and in the process remember this most special of creatures.



Yes, the following is a little twee, and sentimental, but it made me feel better writing it....

An Ode to Doris.

'Dooby dot dot doris', also known as 'Crow'.
Friend for all our adult lives, until she had to go

Lover of the snuggle, with most anyone who came.
A pretty little princess, with a daft old womans name.

Four sweet kitten litters, mean her bloodline carries on.
Doubtful though, that there could ever be another one.

Unique and rather splendid, cute and cuddly too.
Strong willed and quite stubborn, yet loving through and through.

She will always be a part of all the human friends she made.
In the feline world right now they are preparing a parade.

Right down Cat world High St, someday soon and in the sun.
The biggest celebration ever seen will be begun.

They will raise their chicken pieces to a most respected friend.
May the memory of Doris never ever ever end.

So it's farewell to our darling, I will hold you as you leave.
This, is one of lifes rare times, I wish I could believe.

We will hold tight to your loving, and keep all our memories too.
There is no better way to end, than saying 'We Love You'.
