tears dried, big-dull-eyed little black boy
grew sticks for limbs, balloon for belly.
drought-wizened mother gnawed her tongue.
white-bibbed at heavy-fooded boards
pet potbelly pig grunts for thirds
grumbles above his snout-wiped bowl.
orgies of flies dined on the boy’s face,
wined at mouth and eyes, their goblets.
her hands despaired of their revelry.
feeding her scraps’ disposal, she stoops,
scratches a squealing obesity’s ear,
treats to dessert, rich pie crust, deemed burnt;
gluttonous machinery, deprived, snarls.
just one dollar a week will feed....
obscenities swallowed, she switches prayers,
prefers emotive preachers selling soap,
tempts Piggy with a Red Delicious sin.
pity-baiting boy, profit drained, long since dead,
unknown to, unmourned by apple, wife, or pig.
she had starved first, feeding him her cud.
the swine, grown enormous, ravenous hog,
prowls, truffle-sniffing for tastier boys...

Re: Limits of Perception
Reminds me of the goings on in George Orwell's ANIMAL FARM.
Really grotesque! I liked it.
