Not Much

Post by happytrails » November 29th, 2010, 1:24 pm

I don't know why I can't lose weight,
I really don't eat that much;
Just my fruits and veggies
And eggs and meats and such.

Sometimes (but not too often)
I'll have a piece of cake
Or perhaps a hot fudge sundae
Or some cookies that I bake.

I don't know why I can't lose weight;
I really don't eat that much.
Just cheese and breads and cereals
And hamburgers and such.

If I buy a hot dog,
I'll have a plate of fries
And if they come with gravy,
I'm pleasantly surprised.

I don't know why I can't lose weight;
I really don't eat that much.
Just three square meals every day;
Desserts and snacks and such.

I eat a little sandwich
With my mayonnaise
And cold potato salad
On long, hot, summer days.

I don't know why I can't lose weight;
I really don't eat that much.
Just fudgicles and ice cream
And chocolate bars and such

A Thousand Island salad
Is really nice for lunch,
With crispy, crumbled bacon
To give it added crunch.

I don't know why I can't lose weight;
I really don't eat that much.
Just cheesies, nuts and pretzels
And potato chips and such.

I love a creamy milk shake,
Or an ice cream soda pop,
Or a cup of rich hot chocolate,
With marshmallows on the top.

I don't know why I can't lose weight;
I really don't eat that much.
It must be all that diet coke
And tomato juice and such.

Thanks Lucy. Since this was written, I have lost about 55 pounds. So, I seem to be doing something right. Haha.

Neither dietician or nutritionist, I can't offer any advice, but do wish I could join you in your efforts. Jim

Since I wrote this poem, I have lost 55 pounds. Thanks for caring Jim. I just cut out sandwiches. they are too easy to make and they use bread, and as far as I was concerned it wasn't a sandwich without mayo. Of course, it helped that I started providing daycare for a few kids who lived up at the top of a very steep hill. Looking after four kids under three years old will keep you hopping.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Keep up the good work!!
I too know what it's like to struggle with weight...I've lost almost 60 lbs and kept it off for 3 years so far. I'm still trying to lose another 20 or so but I'm stuck. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm probably at my natural weight and I'm semi-okay with this. I've revamped my way of thinking and have focused on being healthy, eating right and keeping myself as fit as I can.

Sometimes though, I'll still think I'm still 60 lbs heavier and surprise myself when I look in the mirror. I can actually fit into regular clothing like a regular girl, and it's still odd to me after all this time. In my eyes, I will always be the chubby, awkward kid with the round face and odd sense of self, no matter how much weight I lose.

Kudos to you all!

HT: this really did make me smile too. Funny! And the kind of funny that I can relate to. Thanks!
