Bleeding

Post by weepingwillow » January 4th, 2011, 10:16 am

I barely place
One foot
In front of the other
But I sure can fake it

I cannot look myself
In the eye
When I look in the mirror
Full of disgrace

Positive words of self
Never escapes
The breath off my lips
Hard to believe I can smile

I'd rather focus
On someone else
Verses think about myself
To hide from my failures

Nearly every night
I taste the
Sweet salty tears
No one ever hears

The ones that stream
Down my face
From the consumption
Of my own self disappointment

I hate it when that happens.

:(

Cheer up. I don't think there's anything anybody should be disgraced or ashamed about. Oh, unless you killed someone. If you did that, turn yourself in. ;) (joke) haha

When that kinda stuff happens to me, I crack jokes. Laughing makes it easier. Lighten up!, I tell myself. Things could be worse. If life were meant to be taken so seriously, we'd all die in the end.

Seriously, though... well written piece.

I second Doreen...from my own hypocritical corner of taking life to seriously.

I like the nod to hope and happiness, that the secret tears aren't just bitter herbs, but carry a note of sweetness--even if it's primarily a cathartically non-nutritive & no-calorie sweetener.

This is good stuff, relatable, cleansing and felt right smack in the gut.

Thank you all....

Doreen and Joel you have inspired another poem out of me...

Do not fret, for I do not
Focus my consumption
On redemption of my sin,
Entirely with each spin

Many inner noises
Trapped in cages,
I’ve learned to muffle
Their “voices”
A little duck tape
Silences what’s on my plate

Flip the switch
To remove the Bitch
Replaced by a twitch
At the corners of my lips

Conjuring up words
In my head,
From all of them
Keeps me out of bed

Could it be, a possibility
The curse of a woman
Personalities are woven

Shifting shapes between
Mother, lover, protector,
Villain, gleeful, sorrow,
Sick and twisted

Gives birth to a
.......writer.......
