spirit bottled for profit
light shuttered by creed
vision unto its sacred blind
unity walled in its own words
humility faded in judgment
balance in the top heavy
and the ism, ism, nauseating roar
of the next war, always the young
war made sense to hemingway
at the time, later not as much
history, the aging whore
long in tooth and fully outfitted
writes odes to to her willful agony
know her, know her not, all the same
you kids don't remember the war
shoveling ashes from the death camps
never meant to mean things profound
it was a closed system, utter hell
got the economy going, so yes
let us prosper on the back of hell
guns and butter, stock symbols
some keynesian whackoff
the world ends in a whimper
a massive IOU, did you vote?
you kids don't remember the war
the one where we set everyone free
let us start a new war, the eternal
biological, about time
to the post world war bollocks
Re: to the post world war bollocks
Strong poem & theme. Well put.
Re: to the post world war bollocks
Eisenhower tried to warn us, that war is a business....oh sure there lots of bad guys in the world.......Iraq & Afghanistan are clear examples of the profit motive....more private contractors there than soldiers.....selling a lot more than just arms.....selling hamburgers, running the cinema......money to be made at every turn in places where everyone hates us, so war in that part of the world will go on forever....recruitment in resistance is easy when you are seen as an occupying army...which we are.....and we care so little about shooting a drone off and killing innocents...it's the price of doing business....good work
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: to the post world war bollocks
thanks steve, dadio. yes, the 'price of doing business.' indeed it must be. sounds so 'mob' to me. (but i'm sure it's all in my head)...
re-wrote it..

ism, ism! the nauseating roar
of the next war, always the young
to fuck history, the aging whore
fully outfitted, we go!
history! know her, or not
write odes to her willful agony
the war made sense to hemingway
though later, not as much

you kids don't remember
the one that set us free
the one of valor
