player prayer

Post by joel » January 24th, 2011, 3:08 pm

I haven’t been afraid to say good-bye
and haven’t been ashamed to walk away
and, when I contemplate repentance, I
am bold to turn my thoughts and feet and jaywalk
cross the street to get to you – without
confirming that it’s safe – on hopes you’ll stay
exactly where I’ve left you— where I’d scout
you— where I’ll hope you’ll be and where I’ll pray
you’ll welcome me as if I’d been your friend
forever: that’s the way we siblings play
and that’s the flesh that bodies Let’s Pretend
as more— as our reality. Let’s say
I always go and come this way: are you
prepared to play like this forever too?

Your poetry gets better and better, Joel. You're master of cadence, meter, and heartfelt expression.

I loved this.

Dadio, Doreen--
your kind support has been
a kind support too few have seen.
I thank you, Dadio, Doreen.

There is something mystic about this poem that touches me deeply. To have a brother across the way, extending his hand, waiting ... without demands or complaints. Just there for you ... ♥♥
