The banks of the muddy river have given up Huck Finns rotting corpse Tom and Injun Joe sat and laughed and as the song says "New Orleans is sinking and I don't wanna swim..." steel bridges too short to span catfish swim in glory playin poker on a river boat with one eyed gamblers as the "big wheels keep on turnin..." from Dylan's Minnysota to the oil slicked gulf of ol Mexico where I filled up with bennies and tea twistin wrists with beats and bums but New York City is my lover....

one can only wonder what the mighty Mississip will turn up as she sets new records, and the debate renews about the validity of climate change, but you have creatively given us something to think about....the hidden secrets that may come ashore.....cool poem

Thanks ...We have a very similiar problem with the Assiniboine and Red Rivers up here in the great white north, but I thought most here would identify with the ol Missysippy...besides I love Huck and Tom....maybe they will rise again....

Something I have just realized is that the Assiniboine, Red River, and Mississipi rivers are all the same river/lake watershed system.

Folks who live at the other end of our state (Tennessee) have it rough, too. We just got through a series of floods & tornadoes around here in the Chattanooga metro area...We lucked out and had no damage to our neighborhood--just the power went out, at the end of April, for 36 hours.

Some folks just got their power on last week! Others don't have houses to go
back to. Two local communities: Apison, TN and Ringgold,GA were really destroyed. We live within twenty five miles or so of these places.

I pray that the floods will recede soon and that folks will recover as much as
can be expected. Weather forecasters say that this is the worst weather ever
recorded in our area.
