the waves are racing up the beach
the waves in the distance choppy
my feet sink into sand
oh man, it was so quick
the trick is getting unstuck
and out of here 'cause you see
this ocean isn't water
but a metaphor for debt
and there ain't no end in sight
they may call it liquidity
but I call it raging cupidity
it just swallows you up
even a little cup is too much
the salt is bitter
pickles the stomach
and you don't want to face
the day
the wind-blowin'
the ocean curling, breaking
the whole island of our livelihood
is at stake

yes, quicksand. how could we let so few put the screws to us like this?
