Happy Birthday, Pearl!

Post by mtmynd » January 19th, 2012, 3:05 pm

January 19, 1943, Janis Lyn Joplin was born in Port Arthur, Texas.
[she would've turned 69 today...]

Image

Picture of a well-known poster at the time of her successful rise to fame. I had an identical poster on my apartment wall in San Mateo, California, 1969. I wish I still had it. One of my favorite images of Janis.

Great poster! I loved her!

And Happy Birthday (yesterday) to you, too, Cecil! Hope you enjoyed your Mexican dinner.

I reckon I'll always have fond memories of Janis... I was fortunate to have seen her perform live one time.

... and si!, Dor'... we enjoyed our Mexican meal. I had chili rellenos and SooZ had entomatadas. Good stuff.

I am wishing you many healthy returns of January 19 amigo. Sorry I am a couple days late.

Speaking of fond memories, I been thinking of Etta James tha past couple days.

Someone called her a chanteuse, I guess Pearl was too, not a bad thing to be I think

That is beautiful and it makes me sad, too, but at least with it is an opportunity to be sad and happiness to have been influenced by her, the touching our world, small world.

Happy belated birthday, Cecil.

little mischievous darling!

Janis was one of the great singers of her time and will always be remembered by those enthusiasts of by blues and rock.

It is sad not only to have died so young (like Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison for example), but to have died a lonely woman. It compounds the story of her life in ways that will keep her alive for many.

btw: Janis had her birthday one day after my own, two years before my own. :)

thank you!
