Ode to Lakeside

Post by Chuquai » April 5th, 2012, 5:33 am

Tuesday afternoon
and i fancy a bean burrito at Taco Bell,
that fast food franchise from the US State
all aficionado of proper cuisine hate
where you place your stomach in the hand of fate
but wait;
the British don't really know this,
so they opened one in Essex,
that Cineplex of human multi-colour
slinking through the Great Hall of the Lakeside Mall
and i seen it all;
drop when you see the shops,
clusters of Emo-teens preen like queens,
chunky women in skinny jeans pushing prams
massive breasts quiver and flop under too small tops
(Damn!!)
strolling by she catches my eye,
Once sexy and single now desperate housewife
sizing me up with a glance and a chaser of romance
that says
FWOOAAR! I fancy that!
"...and i would shag you if i could oh god together we'd be so good...
were it not for my partner - Dave."
Dave brings her food tray,
he marks his woman with his presence
like a wilderbeast in a track suit and souverign ring;

Trios of Punjabi girls
in shiny black hair and Primark chic,
to me they could be mistaken for Mexicans
or Lakota girls in Rapid City, South Dakota;
and hard men, wide boy gangster wannabes
swagger in hoody uniform roam like wolfpacks
shopping for accessories
like soldiers of fortune requisitioning ammo
and following orders like street commandos;
They all mingle taking pride in a quick pace stride
that is the ride through Lakeside

I wish I could write a poem like that.
But I am grateful you can write it
enjoyed reading it very much

Thank you so much for letting me read it.
