he got a bike

Post by creativesoul » July 5th, 2012, 3:51 pm

the last time i was married
key word being 'last'
my husband used to spend the day on craigs list looking for bike parts
now he has a harley
but his head is thru a wall
in that dream
i saw him fall
there was nothing i could do
when i told you
the dream
'you have seen it'
so now i wait
he was sure
that this was fate

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

I think that being a conduit- dreamer- is often very alarming- when ever you tell someone what the dream was- they look at you like you have escaped from the nut ward- most doctor s would drug our types- so we live on the perimiter of everyone else s - offering what I have-----....----....----....
Hope that when they really " get down" and real- too late

Maybe you could expand the poem a little---jusrt to clarify and set the scene a little more.

Is the bike a bike or a motorbike?

The fact that there are 3 people in this short poem makes it---well, a little confusing as to where the emphasis should be. Is it on the narrator and the ex-husband or is it the narrator and the person who receives the personal revelation of the dream? And is that 3rd person saying that they saw the obsession with the bike & foresaw either an accident or the dissolution of the marriage.

All the words in poems play off each other and in a short poem like this the interaction is strong. I'm confused on how to read this poem.

having met a few here on kauai that have cracked their head on the pavement- with both types of bikes= i cannot say that it is important- or agree with your confusion -in fact- for me poetry has a very mysterious effect- for both the writer and the reader- too much information can dilute the mystery- however- i will indulge you on this one =
