Russian peasants marching in a glint of rainbow
I'm still smoking french cigarettes in my dreams
still wandering down the boardwalk late at night
looking at the moon play hide and seek
between the steel skeleton of the roller coaster
and the ocean of clouds fleeting spectral shapes
its all quiet on the western facades of my haunt
the screams of the young girls have faded
into the silent horses of the merry-go-round
and the hell's mouth of the fun house ride

laying on the chincy formica kitchen table
spread out across the territory of the table surface

I pick up one of the translations and enter the orgy
of windows and passageways through Paris streets
a vast maze of mad houses and oriental temples
open up before my lightening bolt gaze
I'm lost here among the cubistic structures of mind
strange music is unfolding its egyptian arms
through back alleys, I pass marvelous prostitutes
who's eyes move back and forth like sentinels
of the unconscious universe a huge star
blazes at the center of the forbidden city of lights
