who could have known
tart cherry juice and tequila
would be the kind of intoxicating blend
to mold words into conceptual pottery ware

but like two old friends we did that last night,
the cocktail facilitated my annoying twin brother
being blocked off behind a cranial dam of solid gray,
holding back this river of accumulated rolling shit

blocking the flow from contaminating any measure of creativity
'cause I know when you let a gully-washer of excrement to permeate
your senses, the words get septic, smelly, lame, and brown
and the grip on your fountain pen gets too tight

to glide, but on those nights when levees are without breach
you write with a sense of urgency and purpose,
you disregard your penmanship..... put your faith in
the hope your hand can keep up with your liberated head
