how to live

Post by revolutionR » November 14th, 2014, 2:08 pm

I never knew how to live
I was struck with that line
In a Lamantia poem
because no matter how I tried to decipher
his poetry, his surrealist scorpionic mythos
in in the midst of his word alchemy, a total
confession of his actual real experience
I never never learned how to live
this amazing at once astounding revelation
sure does not reflect his ability to write poetry
however its great insight, shows where the poet
has arrived, the same view is paralleled philosophically
we are thrown into this world, we do not arrive already
knowing how to live in this world, such as we find it
and if we have the audacity to confront the irony
of contradiction of terms, the absolute absurdity
of pretending that we come out with an original already
prescription for how to live in a world that just doesn't care
even though it dares to tell us how we should think
what we should believe, what clothes we have to wear
as if the fact only follows upon by making broad definitions
of the conditions of our existence, but actually I never
learned how to live like a automation, but I taught myself
how to read the writing on the wall, how to find rare books
how to see through the facades of modern life

I can totally relate...from the moment we begin to grasp language and images there are forces indoctrinating us into little consumers, and with that we are are told how to dress, how to keep our house spic and span, what car we should drive

poets tend to be sensitive to bullshit...look more deeply for underlying reasons to be alive
other than collectors of junk we don't need...i was an outcast from day one

saw through my catechism at 8 years old....they refused to answer my questions...they were angry that a young boy couldn't dig blind faith....except the band, of course...much later...ha

enjoyed the ride
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
