Silver letters

Post by Doreen Peri » February 25th, 2015, 1:45 am

I am a spark in darkness,
his verse insists, my name sung
timbered from a rooftop eave.
We will both go insane until we meet
and in dead of night, he may retreat,
to the train track for the lack of me.
I store his letters in a silver box with
decorative spaces on the lid — each
wind-shaped as a current spins,
unlocked to let his heart stream in.

Okay, is there a series of poems? I guess I have to read further.

one can only hope the reality is as potent as the fantasy....there are infinite types of relationships....so many valid expressions to assimilate ...and let's also keep in mind, each relationship is capable of evolutionary greatness....

Thanks, Judih.

Steve.... I don't know anything but being open to endless possibilities is nothing short of a miracle. I love love, which can sometimes be glorious and other times become a problem. "Evolutionary greatness"... that's a phrase I'm going to remember... thx... I have a friend who used to say, "Fantasy beats reality every time." Hah! ... Who knows? Life is a tricky thing. You are lucky because you have a real life. All I have is cleaning my house, going shopping for groceries, and tapping away on the internet. I better find a real life soon before my time is up because I'm not getting any younger. Thanks for your comments.

hey Doreen, be careful not to sell yourself short....even if something brand new were to occur in your work life, your love life, no one can take away the rich life that came before it

and even though we can have some legitimate dry spells, no glorious rain for years... we know what happens when the levee breaks....think of slow periods as a time to meditate, built into your life through no cause of your doing, but there nonetheless, to reflect, and get in shape for the flood that's a comin' yer way.... 8)

Ok, but my life hasn't just been slow since november of 2007 when my last relationship ended, I've been DEAD. Totally dead. I don't want to be dead. I need to be alive. I have life to live and I'm not waiting around for it any more. I'm going to go get it. :)

Hey, life holds many options. I'm just not going to continue this bullshit.

"Day after day, I stay locked up in my room
and I know to you, it might sound strange,
but I wish it would rain!"
-The Temptations

I'm a Motown junkie.

Thanks, Steve. You know what? If I make a mistake, it won't be the first time. I'm sorta used to it. But better to make mistakes than be dead. I made a mistake by not replying to a letter I recently got .... I should have replied to it. I still hope to do that. Just to let you know.

know when to walk away
know when to run

yes you should answer that letter, someone might feel abandoned,...... you seem like you are in a good place to do that

I wrote a letter to my bride just the other day. Mailed it to her work. It was worth the effort ;)

Your poem is wonderful.

Doreen, this is one of the more awesome short love poems I've seen lately.
It has that "Twelfth of Never" feel to it. 8) :)
