Finding a dime

Post by Doreen Peri » April 11th, 2015, 2:38 pm

I guess it depends on your reaction time
when you find a dime under the sheet 'cause
your sweet young thing cheated on you
and you never keep dimes in your pockets
so could be possible your eye sockets might
just pop right outa yer head seein' that dime
laying there on the bed when at the same time
since you work for organized crime, yer not
at all concerned about her double-timing
since you'll have him taken care of ahead of
time long before his next arrival time is scheduled,
but ya gotta admit it's a helluva thing when you
need to drop a dime on that extra-time cheat,
i mean at least he coulda been neat about it
and not let his spare change rearrange your
sexual escapades like that, the fat muthucka
shoulda kept his little ding dong inside his pants
'cause romance with yer gal shouldn't include
some other dude's dimes slipping' outa his pocket
during his part-time, one-time sex crime and when
she tells you you''re imaginin' shit, just think of it
how that dime lyin' there clued you in 'cause it's
high time he paid for his sin and you'll take care of
that in no time, the filthy fucking slime's gonna get his
right between the eyes, 'cause this ain't show biz, baby,
this is the real deal, so when you announce it to yer
so-called lady that her part-time lover's been bounced,
don't even give her an ounce of elapsed time to spill
her pitiful tears 'cause she ain't gonna wanna hear it
when you throw her negligees and panties right out in
the hall, 'cause no, no tall gorgeous blonde is worth
that shit. Findin' that dime will make ya be done with it
entirely. Find yerself another dame 'cause life can turn
on a dime like that, yeah buddy, no doubt afuckin' bout it.

Yeah. I mean, if you're going to slip currency here and there, then at least make some sort of credible attempt to be honest about it...

Yeah, I guess his lady lover should have told him she had another lover on the side. That would have been honest, after all.

Thanks for reading.

As a (hopelessly deceived) admirer of honesty, I agree.

After it grabbed me by the collar, I was more than compelled to read on.

Captivating tale.

sometimes I can't make heads or tails of life.... ha ha....for some reason I flashed on the Lynyrd Skynyrd song, Gimme Three Steps....then i thought about Robert Blake's, Baretta theme song...don't do the crime, if you can't do the time...what a crazy man real story as well, Blake accused of killing his wife...man that poem had my mind flying all over the place

Cool, Steve! Glad it got your mind going in different directions. That's something.

If you heard the music in it, that would make my day. Most of the time that's why I write poetry. It's Word Music. I like the sound of the words together. If I can make them sound like music, it usually doesn't even matter to me if the story or message comes through. Poetry, to me, is an acoustic art which has to do with rhythm, rhyme, meter, assonance, rests, beats, etc. That's what I try to do with words. (Most of the time... other times I write other styles, but this piece was basically for the sound of it... plus I was listening to old Guys & Dolls tunes the other day so I had gangsters and their "dolls" on my mind).

Thanks for reading and commenting!

Couldn't agree more Doreen, I like to write poetry that you can dance to....and you are very good with the musical sounds and the tempo of the poems you write...I often tune into the movement and melody
