Had

Post by saw » October 6th, 2015, 9:28 am

we were eating marijuana brownies
me and New York Joan
who wanted to be called Fannie
now that she left her other life
up north on Wall St. and her
husband on the lower east side,
and we drove that space truck
around the lower Keys looking
for a unified theory of light and sound
Sugarloaf to Big Pine, Bahia Honda
to Stock Island in that double wide
trailer, Harvelle's Mobile Haven
a wild weekend in search of a harmonious funk
and we tore that bedroom apart
like two shipwrecked moon dogs
and when I woke up, Joan, Fannie, and my Nikon
camera.........were gone
and here I am 40 years later smiling
as I picture her naked belly dance
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

it's been said by many for eons now that i think about it
the time heals all wounds which includes them emotional ones
from which spring anger, disappointment, brings tears...
but Time... that messenger of patience and calm always ends with a smile.

just looked up Harvelle's Mobile Haven where i lived a few years to see if it was still around

apparently it isn't , but it may have unclaimed money according to this posting I found....ha ha

as an aside, i picked up a poetry book by a guy named Andrew Hudgins a few years back. titled
Ecstatic in the Poison...which I thought was an odd title....when I turned the book over there was a picture of a mosquito spraying truck belching out this toxic cloud behind it as children ran behind trying to disappear in the fog.....I was stunned, as I had witnessed this many times when I lived in the trailer park....

i had totally forgotten about that.....the truck came once a week, and this was just about the time Silent Spring came out....and I hadn't read it yet....and none of us gave it much concern......most were happy that the "skeeters" were going to die....so young and naive
