The Sky is Green

Post by Brian mclaughlin » January 25th, 2016, 10:44 am

The sky now blue
the warmth returning
springtime has come
leaving the cold of winter behind
the trees bring forth new buds
giving life to new leaves
the leaves fill the trees
and my eyes and mind now drawn
to the wonder of natures ability
to turn the sky green
When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak. ~ Audre Lorde

Interesting piece.
Nice inversion here-- the end of the bleakness and "rebirth" of spring is emphasized by even the sky becoming infused with green.

Funny, when I clicked on this one I expected something about severe weather, since the sky turns green during some of the worst storms. (I think I wrote a poem with green sky in it a few years go.)
