Come On Down

Post by leafsailors ghost » February 12th, 2016, 5:08 pm

To the iron ground
where the old rusty men go down
spending time drinking blood red wine
the hammers ringing song sings to the steel
feel the ragged edges of the blistered wind
don't bother to wind your time piece Sam
its run its tide line down to the mud

spend your time on moonlight and a song
young ones
the iron ground calls us all
so soon the mountain falls
the sea boils away and dreams take flight

feels like a working class anthem that I can relate to though it's open to many interpretations

my dad was a steelworker, for Bethlehem Steel, a god awful place to work and maybe the kindest thing he ever did for me was not allow me to follow him there....he forbade it !
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
