I was digging for the truth
buried in interpretation
trying to find authenticity
beneath a pile of birthdays

but it was dark in there
and I didn't have a match
maker to fix me up
with a pretty little liar

so I scraped the layers of dust
with my cupped hands, the sand
fell back into the hole
67 slow grains.....then very, very fast
