coming out of the late sixies

coming out of the late sixties
I hated the establishment
that means I was more on the left side
I marched against the Vietnam war
I took a lot of Lsd and liked Dylan
because he sounded like a poet

since I was fifteen I had a bad feeling
about what was going to happen
in my life time to America
I always thought it was about freedom
of thought, it was about electing
the guys that were on the side of
the workers, not the only the very rich

so I thought liberals were more on the side
of the common person, I never thought of
myself as a Democrat, but I voted for them
always thinking the lesser of two evils
I guess, but I thought liberals were against war

in the election of 2016 the people that voted for
the Democrat seemed oblivious that the Democrat
was a war monger, and most certainly would have
got us into a deeper conflict that would lead to
world war 3, what happened to the anti-war people
because world war would ruin every ones day
and you would have to look up from your smart phone

I don't like the republican either, but so far he does not
seem intent on starting a war with Russia
but who knows, what he really is up to
he said he did not like the north American trade
agreements, and that other one that would
be with the east that would be even worse

but building a wall along the border sounds bad
it's one thing to get a lot of unhappy people
to elect you, it is another to step into the white
house and not be cursed by the corruption there
so good luck draining the swamp, you are going
to need a good pump, Trump.

oh, and learn how to duck, those new world order
people are sore losers, and will try to ruin your
New York minute, before it ever gets off the ground
maybe the universe wanted you to clean house
but please don't let your rhetoric that you
used to get all these disgruntled people
to think you are going to turn this battle ship around
on an Indian head dime, be your only guide
because they have been divided and conquered
for far far too long and only unity can truly win

I don't know the person I could have been
I was too busy trying to be a poet, because I felt things
going in the wrong direction, war is not healthy
for children and other living things, including the planet

It's almost like the the world is run by a corporate-driven CABAL, or consortium of them, and war is just another basic policy tool (and population control/cleanup). The corporate world has for a long time crunched numbers to weigh "acceptable harm or even casualties" justified by profit potential. Gawd this world depresses me sometimes.

Hillary ("Billary," actually) was a godawful tired retread of a candidate, and yes, she was bankrupt on too many foreign policy fronts. Basically, "it serves you right, Democratic Party," when you try to foist that weak sauce on us. Blahh... And if Billary was godawful, Trump is something of a nightmare.

Good luck to us.
