A Dog Sleeps

Post by the mingo » February 26th, 2017, 5:33 pm

A dog sleeps
I finish my milk
I've been drinking milk from cows all my life
recently I've begun having grazing fantasies

Heavy rain all day
I've stayed inside and listened to a lot of jazz music
a lot of the people I've listened to have been dead for a lot of years

Too much pump has been put into things
quieter moments have been hunted down
and shot / gutted / broken in pieces
left for the wind

dark now
not raining anymore
a fit of sneezing seizes me
between one sneeze and the next I have a thought of Julie London
then of a photo of a ghost shirt in a book

the whole world is a museum.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

No! goddamit.
I thought you of all people who still hang
around these godless internet poetry sites
might understand, but NO! maybe not.
Heavy rain all day, and the same here,
and the dog sleeps on with more sense
than the rest of the sleeping dogs.

The World is a Museum.
True.

Never mind.

Either way we are parked here for the time being. If I had a mind it would be there.
8 degrees outside. Dawn on Tug Hill. * 8) *
