still, still

Post by the mingo » January 20th, 2018, 8:06 am

all men are powerless before death
my grandfather was powerless before death
and my father after him
now it's my turn

the Word of the Lord God
cannot be turned away
ignored
altered
or run from

the caution lights
are still flashing but
traffic still does not slow
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

The folly of traffic, or hum.
I live next to an Interstate
Highway so I can't help
but wonder if it's folly, or
maybe it's some sorta
addiction if you're not on
foot or pedaling..

I used to like driving, mnaz, used to go for drives just for the hell of it - not anymore, partly due to aging eyes and part to the attitudes of stupidity out there on the road - and since taking up bicycling again my whole head has been realigned vis-a-vis the road - a bicycle is legal traffic but not too many motorists - the disrespect shown to a cyclist in our country verges on the murderous in my own experience and, at the very least, dangerous - drivers will pull shit on you that they wouldn't pull on a driver of another car - even though I have no city up here to deal with there is one two-lane US highway and one State highway that traverse my region and if you use either one of those roads you are going to see some shit every time you go out on them.
I'm not going to soapbox here but there is plenty more to say on this subject - I'm just glad there are plenty of backcountry roads up here that make my rides the good experience they are meant to be. Suffice to say I have rearview mirrors on all my bikes as an necessity - 8)

It is cold where you are .. cannot imagine biking in the cold
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

it has warmed up since the arctic freeze - for me cycling gets difficult in the winter because of the weather but more because of drivers who think their vehicle is under control on snow-covered, ice coated, or wet roads - 8)

some may not be powerless before death
well at least I have read that one man had power over death
hope it is not President Tweet

before death but after life :)
ya know
the longer I live the more I realize how powerless I am before life

after life I will worry about when I get there

Out here they call the wind Moriah
so goddamn lost not even god can find me
G d must be a lunatic
but what do I know
I am only being human
trying to catch the devil's heard across an ./

I do not will him to be exceptional.
It is the exception that interests the devil
I don't have much faith in Lunatic Desert Gods anymore even though I still fear him
fear they say is the beginning of wisdom
I still have faith in a Creator, a G d. even if it is heretical

I don't know why the people in my family where singled out as the exception
why we have remained faithful to him for so many generations

to the jew first it says in the book
and we are chosen

we been first in being scapegoats
we were chosen to suffer
Amos Elon wrote about Rahel Varnhagen in his 2002 book The Pity of It All: A History of the Jews in Germany, 1743-1933:

She hated her Jewish background and was convinced it had poisoned her life. For much of her adult life she was what would later be called self-hating. Her overriding desire was to free herself from the shackles of her birth; since, as she thought, she had been "pushed out of the world" by her origins, she was determined to escape them. She never really succeeded. In 1810, she changed her family name to Robert... And in 1814, after her mother died, she converted. But her origins continued to haunt her even on her deathbed. ... She considered her origins "a curse, a slow bleeding to death." ... The idea that as a Jew she was always required to be exceptional - and go on proving it all the time - was repugnant to her. "How wretched it is always to have legitimize myself! That is why it is so disgusting to be a Jew."
sorry amigo please excuse the rant,
I guess you punched my ticket with The Word of the Lord God  8)

speaking of traffic I used to commute with Lew Welch when we worked in the same office in Chicago  .
I chew gum and go to my car dressed in a suit and tie. I fight idiots who don't know how to drive on a highway where thousands of cars go too fast and all the signs, street lights and policemen are confused and wrong. . . .
anyway. Then I come home. The same idiots that can't drive are now as furious as I am. We try to kill each other for 30 minutes. Genesis Angles Lou Welch and the Beat Generation

Traffic is a term that has me concerned. .. because it simplifies the whole equation
How can people sit in their car for that long😹😈commuting to a job that barely pays the bills? I went to Disneyland last week... that is another level of crowded.. Mickey Mouse ears on everyone then the congestion in my mind The conversations I wish I had
The whole thing with touching souls has me gasping for air at the Disney castle in Anaheim princesses everywhere
Headlights for miles back to the desert
34 years I have known my Italian friend
He is dying I can smell it... brought a bucket list with him..
I’m tired
