Fire Is Fire

Post by mnaz » January 11th, 2025, 6:42 pm

Fire is about itself.
Fire lives only to burn.
Fire respects nothing.
Class, money or power.
Fire lives to consume.

you're right
fire is impartial
it just burns until
all the fuel is gone

same with the planet
she isn't prejudiced
you fuck with her
she'll fuck back
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Like physics. Action reaction. My niece's apartment is in the path of one of those fires, and I hope the fire burns out before it reaches her.

What I no longer understand is the idea I grew up with that these are the "United" States of America. What a dead fucking dream that is/was, if the latest internet spew is any indication, which I'm hopeful it isn't.

So far so good. And the brutal Santa Ana winds have died down if not the seemingly endless, childish mean-spirited political bluster and finger pointing in their wake that I guarantee will get us nowhere. Where do I live anymore?

sung to the tune of huey lewis' "I need a new drug"

I need a new home
one that won't make me sick
a place with some sanity
not led by a pr**k
I need a new home
with normal people en masse
folks who think with their heads
and not with their a**
I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach 10,000 stars how not to dance.

Winddance, good start. Where is our shared humanity? Ok, I'm not doing the tribal politics anymore. I'm not reading the articles, nor the cesspool of reader comments-- especially not those. What a wasteland.

So to be honest, here it is 2 months later and I'm still reading the same sort of articles hopelessly disputed by both sides, and the attached wasteland of comments about tribal politics. What am I missing? Is "The Other Side" really that bad?

I guess what I'm "missing" is choosing to miss these back-forth toxic sessions. Maybe I'll start today.
