fish story

Post by saw » Today, 12:22 pm

once upon a time I was a fish
too clever to take the man's bait
too swift to be a midnight snack
for Big Bubba or his finned henchmen

my secret was to never sleep....
in movement we are free
from all the dangers that befall
the lazy mackerel or cocky trout

I was the bullet-train of the deep
the leer jet of the stocked lake
I rocketed through peril in the tall grasses
with skill and grace

I lived to be four hundred years old
then one day walked out of the pond
on my brand new brackish toes
with supreme confidence, and I never looked back
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism
