solstice

come sit with me
beneath the olive tree
as the sun stands still
and all of our senses
awaken

come,
sit close to me --
as the sun stands still,
touching -- sensing
shoulder to shoulder
and we will sing our unsung songs

athena
please lend us your trumpet
and we will blow it

and we will sound off
and we will laugh
and we will know
immeasurable joy

as the sun stands still
and all of our senses awaken

come break into this soft white cheese
the heel of fresh bread
the scent of basil, and the breeze over soft silken air

this wealth called morning
springs into afternoon
as we sing on quiet winds
and walk the dales of our mind

we dip our fingers
in pots of lapis lazuli,
paint our eyelids
cross our hearts --
and in the fourth hour of the night
Venus visits
us,
friends

lying on a sunwarmed island
among the spices of cardamom and thyme
boundless blue around
we quietly hum a dream
and blow spheres of joy into the sky
where gleams of the sea giggle and whisper
and tickle our skin with light

we swim in the soft wind
drink the sun and
lick shadows like ice cream
while we whisper to myths
that peer out from behind olive trees
overrunning ants and reason

suckling on the moment
delicious like sweet almonds
we get drunk on time wine
eyes openly closed
in the flight of a sunbeam

and we dip our hearts
into this wealth
and paint this Now
with light

these words of my sisters...
provide an aromatic sense of sweetness

such are their souls
