college, movies, stuff

Post by K&D » August 23rd, 2005, 7:23 pm

so a couple of things, hopefully you'll find them intresting or have some insight or something...scroll if you get bored, i know i'm not much of a writer, and some of the stories are better then the others.

first of all, movies- dude, you have to see me, you and everyone we know, refreshingly different, i got to see it for free in my History of World Cinema class, just because he had it lying around and was doing a practice run of it...fucking awesome movie. afterwards we talked very philophically about how hard it is to communicate today and at any point in time...the teacher for that class is into russian lit and philosophy and he makes the class not soley about technique and style but meaning and film and ideas and stuff like that which i think is awesome, its basicly going to be like a history class centered around film...and the dude teaching the class is really different, have you ever seen The Wonderboys? he's a lot like the main character in that film as far as looks, but his personality is really sarcastic and kind of strange...but cool. um...also, i saw Broken Flowers, i was the only one in my group of friends who liked it, they thought it was too slow, i really liked it and i think you will too.

secondly, this has sort of come and gone but, when i first got to college i thought things were going to be exactly like they were but friend dynamics have changed and i have had to adjust...basicly i thought me and Jen were going to be inseperable like we were before but now she lives in a nother dormitory and Geo is always around...i don't know she's not like totally different when he's around, and i really like him, but things are not the same...but i've adjusted, orriginally i was really kind of confused about it...but now i'm o.k with it.

thirdly, i drove all the way here without even seening that many cops, and i was totally fine for three days driving, i get here and the first night we deside to go to get dinner, i'm pulling off of the high way when i see a bright flash coming behind the bushes...i quickly realize that was the sun bouncing off of an ill placed stop sighn. it was way too late to stop, and out of the cornor of my eye i see a cop car waiting, just waiting off behind the bushes to pull me over...which he does. i rolled down my window and this cop walks up all straight faced...wearing big ass sunglasses so you can't see his eyes. he asks if i'm blind and tells me that i didn't even make an attempt to stop at the sign...i tried to explain myself it was of no use, so i got my first ticket. later on that night, my friends little brother had gotten pulled over and asked if he "wanted to take a sobriety test" because his licence plate was off and because he was a 16 year old who's eyes were wattery because he was about to cry...then the cop got onto him about not crying when he explained that he wasn't drunk, his eyes were wattery because he was about to cry.

fourthly, my mom kept saying i love you on the phone, but i didn't want to say it back just because she prompted me...so i never did and i feel bad, because i do, i just want to say it when i want to say it you know? like when i say it i feel like i want to say it then you know, not like i have to...i think its stupid to do something out of habit or because your prompted.

fithly, meals...they kind of suck here...i've been eating breakfast burritos from Burrito spot..

sixthly, they have me in a fucking cosmology class and i'm not sure i can get out of it, i have to talk to my advisor, Stout...he's this abstract film sound...music/noise its subjective depending on your definition of music...

seventhly- intro to massage is kind of a flacky class, we have to write about how we feel when we give massages, and we have to ask two people outside of class to let us test out on them...cept the massages we learn will be foot, hand, head and face...dude i don't want anybody massaging my face????

Glad you made it to school in one piece.

Grab onto every moment of your college days. They will be some of the best days of your life. It's a special time when you will make bonds that will last for your life. I have many friends today that I met while in college.

My college career lasted eight or ten years and I went to at least six schools and never did get a degree because I was having too much fun.

About the cops.....when one walks up with sunglasses (especially the ones with the mirror lenses) you can fergitaboutit.
