advice needed Dear Abby

Post by lovingpenfull » August 29th, 2005, 8:58 am

I have a situation, and as it is yee who are the ones I can tell all my secrets to, lets have some feedback. The thing is that I have/had a friend that led me on to believe one thing, and then it all turned out different. I'll ellaborate. I had a job with this guy, and we always complained about it, and we decided to quit together, we said we wanted the company to lose us both at the same to really throw a wrench in their gears, and so one day he said, 'I'm quitting, getting out of here...' so I said, yeah, this is shit, I'm with you. I left right away, he decided to stay on a day to straighten some things up. Whenever I would talk to him after that over the phone or internet he maintained that he had quit the job too. But I have found that to be untrue. He is still there. I know we are all out for ourselves, I quit and that is my deal, but why did this 'friend', a grown man, 43 years old, feel the need to lie to me? Should I call him on it? What do you think? Cast your ballots, let me know, should James get a mail saying, look mate, just be honest about what you do, I don't care if you backed out on our pack to quit at the same time, just be honest, don't you think I am a dynamic enough person to understand? Or just forget it all and never contact him again?
I am looking for a home for my thoughts.

yeah, same thing happened to my partner, G. A new boss pulled in, felt threatened by him and another man who refused to bow down to excessive authority, and the 2 of them decided to quit and leave the boss to fill the chasm.

Well, G quit and the other guy didn't. But, we knew why. The other dude was afraid that he wouldn't find work, he had no courage to stick to his decision, and perhaps the deciding point in this particular case, he is someone who won't move without his wife's permission.

G took it as a learning experience. When that particular boss left, G came back to work and this time with no illusions about his co-worker.

So, it's up to you. Are you bitterly surprised? Do you think the dude is suffering from his lack of gumption?

Complain to us, but try saying nothing to the other dude. Maybe he'll burst, melt down and beg for your ear to hear his reasoning.
Maybe not.

Don't suffer cause of him. Find yourself a normal job.

my suggestion

1. Tell him you got a new job for twice the pay and your boss is a fox who wants you to perform sexual favors for her.
2. Call his boss anonymously and say you have information that he is stealing from the company or smokes crack on his lunch breaks.
3. Set his pants on fire.
4. Forget about the whole thing.

What I would do is get a baseball bat and come up behind him and before he has any chance to defend himself whack him up side the head.

Good advice A One. I misread the situation. I thought the guy was trying to diddle him out of a job. I knew an old hog hauler in Iowa. He and a bunch of owner operators were hauling to one particular packing plant. One instigator convinced them that they were getting a bad deal. Talked them all into quiting. About a month later he saw the instigator going into the plant with a brand new truck. Turns out the guy was just trying to get rid of the competition.

I was just joking about the baseball bat, I hope he knows that.

Thanks for the input everyone, a wide range of sugestions, but I think I'll go with a synthasis of LRod's and Strilltrucking's ideas: I will first club him over the head and then set his pants on fire, but before doing that I will put the pants over his head, so the blaze will caturize his club wound so it won't bleed too much, I am really quite a caring guy, and then I will steal his woman and force her to smoke crack while eating lunch, did I get that right? No, actually, I just mailed him, as nonchelontly as possible, 'oh, hey man, I didn't wait around to meet you where we planned to meet up because I thought you were avoiding me, I was confused that you said you'd be quitting, but you didn't, oh well, good luck...' I am sure he won't even give a second thought about it
I am looking for a home for my thoughts.
