Fractured Pieces

Post by Ann Bingham » March 9th, 2006, 11:19 am

Bits of a puzzle
crumble in my hand.
Sorting through pegs
the perfect size
to fit the round holes
in my head.

Jagged little pieces
pierce finger tips
numbing them.
There's not enough roundness
and a fractured puzzle just
doesn't look right with gaps
in the whole.

Headaches behind eyes
wondering farther in time
then necessary
to survive the sacrifice
to make the puzzle look beautiful
worth viewing over and over.

The goal set, groundwork in progress.
The puzzle begins to take shape.
Finding all the little fractured pieces
and putting them in the proper place
is the challenge.
My heart swells with anticipation
hoping for a better re-creation.

As the pieces fall into place
I will have found my space.
Fractured pieces
will embrace one another
making the picture whole
making the picture feel beautiful.

some pieces of the puzzle
look better filled in
by hand
jagged gasps
along the edge
sacrifice with
anticipation
beautiful fractures
